American professional basketball player Davion De’Monte Earl Mitchell, born on September 5, 1998, plays for the Sacramento Kings of the NBA. He averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 assists, and 2.9 steals per game as a junior, leading his team to its first Class 4A state title. Mitchell was chosen as the Savannah Morning News’ Player of the Year. Mitchell competed for the Georgia Stars in AAU events. Despite being a four-star talent overall, he selected Auburn over offers from Cincinnati, UConn, Florida, Georgia, and Clemson. In his junior year, Mitchell improved as a shooter and passer. He beat Kansas State 107-59 on January 27, 2021, scoring a career-high 31 points while making seven three-pointers. In the final game victory over previously unbeaten Gonzaga, Mitchell had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists to help Baylor capture its first national title. Both the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big 12 honors were given to Mitchell.
