About Davion Mitchell

American professional basketball player Davion De’Monte Earl Mitchell, born on September 5, 1998, plays for the Sacramento Kings of the NBA. He averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 assists, and 2.9 steals per game as a junior, leading his team to its first Class 4A state title. Mitchell was chosen as the Savannah Morning News’ Player of the Year. Mitchell competed for the Georgia Stars in AAU events. Despite being a four-star talent overall, he selected Auburn over offers from Cincinnati, UConn, Florida, Georgia, and Clemson. In his junior year, Mitchell improved as a shooter and passer. He beat Kansas State 107-59 on January 27, 2021, scoring a career-high 31 points while making seven three-pointers. In the final game victory over previously unbeaten Gonzaga, Mitchell had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists to help Baylor capture its first national title. He received the Lefty Driesell Award, the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, and the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year honors for being the finest defensive player in the nation. Both the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big 12 honors were given to Mitchell. He forfeited his remaining collegiate eligibility on April 13, when he announced his intent to enter the 2021 NBA draught. He was selected ninth overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2021 NBA Draught.
